OWCH! Open Wallet Surgery!

Swede faces world-record $1m speeding penalty The Swede was driving a Mercedes SLS AMG - which has a top speed of 317km/h A Swedish motorist caught driving at 290km/h (180mph) in Switzerland could be given a world-record speeding fine of SFr1.08m ($1m; £656,000), prosecutors say.

The 37-year-old, who has not been named, was clocked driving his Mercedes sports car at 170km/h over the limit.

Under Swiss law, the level of fine is determined by the wealth of the driver and the speed recorded.

In January, a Swiss driver was fined $290,000 - the current world record.

Local police spokesman Benoit Dumas said of the latest case that "nothing can justify a speed of 290km/h".

"It is not controllable. It must have taken 500m to stop," he said.

The Swede's car - a Mercedes SLS AMG - has been impounded and in principle he could be forced to pay a daily fine of SFr3,600 for 300 days

Hole in my Hand!

I still Wince now!

THE FOOTBALL WORLD CUP STARTS!

Last Friday saw the start of the FIFA World Cup which is being held in South Africa. 32 National sides competing to be crown the World Champions. Played over a month (just over) the early stages comprise of 8 groups of 4 teams. Each team in that group plays each other once and score points for a win or a draw. 3pts for a win and one point for a draw. The top two from those groups then progress on the knock out stages. I love the World cup! Played every four years the teams have to Qualify for the tournament over a 2 year period. I’m glued to the games and I must admit I am a sad-o’ with a wall chart keeping tabs on the score. England played their first game of the tournament last Saturday again the USA! It’s a big thing here. Me mate but on a BBQ and there were about 25 of us all around a TV in his back garden. Few little ales allllways helps with the atmosphere too. Aherm. I was on tea….cough. The result ended in a 1-1 Draw. The English Keeper made a terrible mistake and USA scored a “jammy” goal. Rob Green could not catch a cold let alone a football! Never mind, just one of those things. If I find that goal I will post it. Some players have mumbled about the new ball design and that the flight of it is unpredictable at times. Mmmm…sounds like an excuse to me. Funnily enough the new ball was developed at the University here. Lol! The other thing that’s been getting on my nerves (apart from the standard of English goal keeping) is the Vuvuzela Horns that are blown by the crowd. It sounds awful! It’s just a constant Drone that makes it sound that there is a Bee hive in your TV. It just drowns out the commentary and any atmosphere from the support for the teams. They have talked about banning them but I don’t think they will. England play their next game on Friday night against Algeria. I’m going over to South Africa with me Mittens and I’ll play in goal!

I HAVE RETURNED! Part 2!

Well, Egypt does feel like a long time ago now. I've returned and been away again. Had Easter and been out and about catching up with People that I’d missed from my Birthday. I feel like my birthday has lasted a month. Lol! Never a bad thing when people are buying you prezzies or giving you cards! Lol! Bring it on I say! Lol. The big 4-0! I always had planned to do something a bit special on my birthday. I mean it is a bit of landmark figure I guess. Egypt sounded the perfect option. Nice time of year to go and it tied up a bit with my mate being 40 this year too. So, Egypt it was. Just a week away at an all inclusive resort, blue seas and just leave the wallet locked up in the room safe. The flight from where I am was 5 hours so that made it not overly long and we'd managed to sort a flight from my local airport rather than having to get to somewhere like Manchester or Heathrow. With the time difference got to the hotel resort around 8ish. It took us a little longer to get out the airport due to having to get Visa's for a later trip to Cairo and the people that were s'pose to meet us where not there. Got that sorted in the end and the holiday rep got us in a taxi bus. Checked in and dumped the cases. We'd been informed that there was a "Brit" night on at one of the restaurants. So, we piled in there and it was bliss. Beef Wellington and just about everything else you could wish for. Lol. It's the first time I’d ever been to an all inclusive hotel before having always been one to sort myself out. Food was top notch and the drink was free too. Just go up and top up when you where ready. Gave the ole red vino' some hammer that night. Lol. It was same around the pool where they had bars. Just go up and get a beer or whatever and help yaself. The restaurants where open and had a buffet service and so you just helped yourself. It was a case of having 3 massive meals a day. I did pig a little I must admit. Great! Lol! There were a lot of Italians and Russians at the hotel and every one got on. The hotel was massive...like a village in its own right. Had shops, 5 restaurants, 4 bars a gym, 5 swimming pools and its own private beach. On the Beach was a private Pier that stretched out to the edge of the Coral reef. You were not allowed to walk out in the sea to the reef. You had to use the pier to get to it. From there you could Snorkel and I gotta say I’d never seen such wonderful colourful fish like it. It was like floating in an Aquarium. I even saw Nemo! Lol! The parrot fish were just amazing. It really was a very relaxing break. I'd taken me MP3 player with me and Dan Brown latest book and spent most days laid out just chilling out with a drink. Did get out of the complex twice, once to Cairo and the other to do a star gazing night in the desert at a Bedouin camp. Cairo was a very very long day to be honest and I did come back from there utterly knackered. Was up at 4am and where picked up just after 4.30am. We had two choices to get to Cairo~one by bus and the other was to fly from Sharm el Sheikh. The bus trip to Cairo would of taken 6 hours....and then that would be 6 hours back too. So, you'd spend half a day on a bloody bus. The flight to Cairo was 45mins. So, it was a no brainer really. It cost is a little bit but it would be so worth it to go and see the great Pyramids. We were on a guided tour and I’m glad we took the touristy route rather than just getting a flight on our own and then finding our way around Cairo on our own. What a city..Blimey. I've been to Bangkok and I thought that was a bloody nutter of a city. Even London does my head in after a few days but Cairo.....god...you have never seen anything like it. It's just a city that never been finished. All the buildings are roofless. Yes...you read right. There are hardly any rooftops on the buildings. The guide said that the law in Egypt is that if a "house" has a roof on then you pay tax on the building. So, they get around paying tax by building the house..And then build walls up on the next floor and leave it like that. Hence...there is no roof and no need to pay tax. Lol. It did make the city look very ugly. I'm sure there are some very very beautiful parts of the city but it just looked like a building site. The houses all packed in and it looked like a lot of the living conditions were very poor. I guess a city with a population pushing 20 million people it's going to look that way. The contrasts where amazing. Driving down the road you'd see massive state military barracks and academies for the police and such. You'd have someone driving in a massive BMW and next to him at the traffic lights would be a donkey and cart. Parts of Cairo really where almost like shanty towns. Even the area around Giza, the pyramids and the Sphinx was a rundown area. You'd be looking right up into the face of the Sphinx and yet turn 180 degree's and a 100 yards behind you'd see a KFC and Pizza hut. Lol! The Pyramids are amazing. Just jaw dropping. The size of them and then you try and get your head around that they are near on 4000 years old. Four-thousand-years old! Didn't manage to get inside one of the big main ones. They were closed and tend to rotate the times you can get in them. I did get in one of the smaller ones and I think there is a picture of me sat on a wall outside it. There was nothing inside apart from the chamber that was used for burial. Still awesome to think that I’m stood in a place that at one time would of been for the only very very important (I know millions have no doubt gone before me now) but I found it amazing. Smiles. Everyone that is around the Pyramids is on the make, they all want a share of what is in your wallet. From Camel and Donkey rides to them offering to take your photo. Even the flamin' police where on the make too. I did have a bit of a row with one bloke who tried to make out he was some sort of guide (all dressed in a uniform). I only asked him where the entrance to the little pyramid was and he was going on and on about giving him money for a tour. I said no and he started tooting some bloody whistle in my face. I did ask him if he would like to toot that where the sun don't shine (not so polite has that..And I’m not sure he understood me). Lol. You soon toughen up to it all and in the end you just walk by and ignore the advances. Before being taken to the Giza plateau we were taken to The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. What an awesome place. We only had the morning there and had a tour with our guide using little radio transmitters. Our group was called Rameses and I can still hear the guide calling "Rameses....Rameses~ I am here...oh-ohhh-oh-ohhhh...Rameses"! Some of the stuff within the museum was just beautiful and the age thing again...I could not quite get my head around at times. The best thing was seeing the golden mask of tutankhamun and his coffin. The mask is solid gold and priceless. It's an image you see and then to be stood right in front of it, only feet away. Amazing (sorry- using that word a lot). We did come away from the Museum and was taken for lunch before moving to a papyrus workshop. From there we were driven up thru' the slum area towards the pyramids. Right eye opener that was...they had water ways in the middle of the street. You would not believe the crap that was in there. We even spotted a dead camel bloated and floating in it. Lmao. I think you can gather that I’d not be in any rush to return to Cairo. I mean it's a city you have to experience. The Museum and Pyramids are just a must see BUT I feel that right...I’ve been there now and brought the t-shirt~ etc. And I might be totally wrong but you don't get the feeling that with being from outside that you could not wander about on your own with safety. Again, I know there are good and bad parts in any city in the world but with having Military or police outposts on every corner, does make you feel a little un-nerved. I'd definitely go back to Sharm El Sheihk though. Loads of things that I didn’t' really get to do there or had the time to do. I'm glad I did the star gazing night out with the Bedouins. The sky was just clear and so beautiful. So peaceful and quiet too. I do have to come back to the thing of being a little un-nerved coz on the bus out there we had to have an armed guard on the bus. On the positive side I will say that the people are so very friendly (apart from some prick around the pyramids~lol) and that will live with me for a very long time. My kinda people that you can laugh and joke with. OMG..Look at all that lot I’ve wrote! Lol. WAKE UP! I do have more pics..and if you want me to bore you some more…just gimmie a shout……..

I HAVE RETURNED! Part 1!

Yes..Yes...I’m bloody well back...ohhh-yes!! Hide the Silverware and Candy and close the curtains and duck down out of sight behind a sofa! For, I have returned after travelling thousands of miles, Flew to heights that you could never climb and farted in lands that you may never see.....OH YES....It’s the return of the Beaky Blog! Shiver with terror, gasp at great tales of bravery and sigh at my..er..manly manly-ness..type fink! Mmm..should of thought that through a bit more...mmm..yes...DOH! Aye ya! I'm back!!!!! 2nd day (3rd back in the country) back at work and I’ve got to say I’m not liking it one bit. Nope...it certainly does not suit me atttt alll! For starters...you have to get up like around 7am...YES...7am! What’s that all about? And the other thing too! It's sooooo bloody cold....they have given out Snow today....yep..you have read that right....bloody snow! It's s'pose to be bloody British Summer time now...the clocks have moved on...the nights are a little lighter. I'm s'pose to be ironing my shorts of a thousand pockets in readiness for scaring bumble bee's and sitting in the garden staring up at deep blue skies. Not trudging about with me winter hat and coat and dodging flamin' ice and frost! I have to say I do feel fairly chilled out despite my little whines here about work, cold and you hiding your silverware now....and I must admit the last few weeks have been a right mix bag of experiences. Big Highs and big lows too. I'm not sure how I will get to tell you all from my adventures (I mean~i'm bloody 40 years old now and the memory isn’t what it used to be~shaddap.....I didn't ask for a comment!! lol) and so I will split my blog into two so I don't over bore you and plus I can send photo's from my Egypt trip and you can relate to it a bit more easier.
I'll start off by telling you about the Stag doo that I went on directly after coming back from Egypt. Again, I’m doing this coz I have photo's from Egypt and nothing (yet) from the stag doo. I'd landed back at East midlands airport in the early hours of the Friday morning. Getting home around 2am that morning. The Saturday I was off around 6am to meet up with the lads to get down to Luton Airport and catch the flight to Krakow (Poland) on the cheap and cheerful airline easy jet. I was so very grateful just to have Friday to at least catch up on some sleep and get my weekend bag sorted and packed ready for stag weekend. We'd got the grooms house early and had a costume all sorted and ready for him to travel in. Yes, he was going to be travelling has a baby~Nappy (Diaper), Bib, bonnet, dummy and feeding bottle. We were not too hard on him has we did get him a flesh coloured body suit to wear under it. Well, we'd check weather forecasts for Krakow in Poland and it had been snowing the week before...lol! He was alright about it....I think he was quite relieved because we had been winding him up that we'd actually gotten him a mankini and that he would of had to have waxed...lol. Yes...evil...but, it just wasn’t me...ok? I just got the body suit...see...I was concerned for the poor lad...er...cackles! He did get some funny looks at the airport and his bag did have to get searched by security. lol! Had some breakfast there and then we were on our way. The flight was not too bad to be honest. Seats where a bit cramped up it's was just over a 2 hour flight. Coz it is a cheap airline you are not actually allocated seat numbers. So, the 16 of us ended up being dotted about the plane a little bit. Just made it so we took over the plane a bit. hehe. Krakow "International" airport was a shed and a taxi rank~not very big. A Mini bus was waiting to take us to the hotel which was in the centre of the city. Took us about 20 minutes to get there from the airport. Got to say too that the weather was glorious and much better than we'd left behind in GB. The hotel was brilliant. Right plush....5 stars easy. We checked in and then dumped all the bags and met up in the bar about 20minutes later. by now it was around lunch time. Once every one came down from the rooms (the groom had gotten changed by then back into Civvies clothes) we took a walk up to the city square which was only 5 minutes away. Massive Square it was....but beautiful. Massive churches in each corner of the square and then in between where cafes, bars and restaurants. They had lots of street theatre going off and the place really was quite beautiful. We sat outside a cafe and had a drink and watched the world go by and had a bit of a laugh. From there we dropped down to Subway to get a sandwich and then strolled around a bit more to get our bearings. It was great. In the end we found a bar showing English footy and we piled in there. Then it started to hit me. I sat down and got half way down a pint and I just drained. I sat watching the footy and kept being asked if I was ok (Un-nerving when I go quiet you see..and when I’ve stopped drinking too...lol). I thought it just must be Egypt and the flights I’d done over the last few weeks catching up on me~not counting the late night I’d had getting home from there and then the early start that morning. One of the lads Kev (he is a bit of a Monster) got me a pint...told me to get it down me and it would sort me out. lol. I carried on watching the footy but didn't touch a drop. I'd got a pint and a half on the table~and left it. I felt my eyes going and thought "I’ve just got to get back to the hotel and get me head down for a sleep". I had a word with me mate and told him I’m going to slip off back to the hotel and not to say anything to anyone until after I’d gone. I just wanted to get myself right for the evening. I got back...kicked my shoes off and was gone. Out like a light and dead to the world. My pal came back and woke me up and they were getting ready to go out. I was in a total daze. He came out the bathroom and told me to shake a leg. I sat up and then bang....I drained and bent up double in pain. Stomach cramp like I’d never had before ever. I got to the bathroom and well...it was not pretty. Ever seen the Exorcist? lol. Well, will leave it at that. I was soo ill. Very very ill. Both ends. I never made it out that night. One of the lads came back later that night to check on me...and I was still being ill. I was burning up...then shivering cold. It got silly to the point where I could not bring anymore up. My stomach still was cramping (felt like squeezing your fist up tight in a ball). I strained my side coz I was still trying violently to bring stuff up. I Nearly called for the doctor it was that bad. I eventually did sort of pass out with exhaustion. My Friend must of came in around 3.30 and I never heard him. He checked on me to make sure I was ok but I was out for the count. I woke next morning feeling like I’d been run over by a train that had then backed up over me just to make sure. I'd strained myself that much that I didn't feel like I could stand up straight properly. I felt so groggy. I had a long shower and got some fresh clothes on that sort of made me feel a little better. I had nooo idea what had hit me. Be it food poisoning, something I’d gotten from Egypt and I’ve since learned after getting back that there is a nasty stomach bug doing the rounds in the UK right now. I'd never been that ill before though. I went down for breakfast which was a buffet. I had some water, bit of tea and I tried some toast. Good news was it all stayed in. The lads where going to take a walk down to the river so I made darn' well that I’d get out with them. Needed some fresh air and I’d not travelled all that way to stare at my bed or the bog for the weekend. The air helped and I got a bottle of water and felt a little better. Like I said..the city is beautiful and of course has a dark past with the war. Auschwitz is just a few miles outside of the city and there are plaques and memorials all over the city. We eventually ended up back at the square and sat in another bar playing pool and watching some footy. The lads drank but I stuck to water and I did try a bit of Pizza too. I just felt soooo shattered. I headed back early again and slept more. I was determined that nooo way was I staying in that night. I slept well, and after showered. We all met up around 7.30 and went back up the square to have a meal. Found this great place that was all set up underground. Had steak and chips.....ate some of it but could not manage it all. Least I was getting some stuff back in me. We left there...did a few more bars (I was on water...sigh) and before we knew it the time was 2.30 gone. I had an ok night but it was sooo hard going. Soon has I got back to the hotel, I was gone and out light a light. The next morning I did go for breakfast and had more water, toast and such. I had a stinking headache too but that was from being so violently ill that it had dehydrated me. Took one more look up at the main city square before heading back and checking out. By 1.30pm we were flying home. Again, I slept all the flight and most of the taxi journey back. I was soo disappointed with myself for being ill and I just hope I didn't ruin the trip for anyone. It was like they were carrying me a bit. I got home, hot bath and bed. Slept right through until late next morning. I got up and showered and had some soup and toast. Then slept again....it's all I did on Tuesday, slept. I am feeling a lot-lot better although down one side I do feel a little delicate. I'm eating better but not full right just yet. And yes....I’m still feeling tired a little even now. Gah....what a wimp! Lol!

Okies...I’ve gone on long enough and I’ll update you on how Egypt with some pics. I can tell you it was a lot bettererererer than Poland and there are no stories of toilets or stomach cramps there. Lol....promise!

Forrest Island is a nice chilled out place to explore. Just take a ride on Horse back or take to the air with the Eagle tour. See the Volcano and just enjoy the peace of the Forrest or Beach area. Nice little place to waste half an hour or to chill out. If you do the tour via Horse or Eagle then go into Mouselock for the best view. Robot Museum

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kubrick/98/161/27

January is always a boring month. It’s a long way in between pay days (if you are paid monthly and on the last working day to boot too), the weather is dull, grey and wet (UK weather ~love it- NOT!) and everyone just seems on a downer after Christmas. I’ve not done a great deal in RL to be honest so I try and get me kicks by travelling about with SL. Here is a cool little place I found while out and about with Tam. It’s the Robot Museum! I know, don’t start yawning just yet! There, they have a “machine” to Build your own Robot Avi. Just got to the machine and select your head, Arms and body design. There is a mini avi that shows you your selections. Once you are happy with your robot just click on the big red Lever. The machine will then send you a folder. Drag the folder to your Avatar. Ta-dar….Killer Robot! Next up~ waddle to the far end of the machine and get a paint job and select the plating you like. It’s simple…just click on the coloured boxes and plating types. Once you are happy with that, click on the Shine lever and your robot is then complete. Pictured above is Tam3BO AND Beak2beep2! Bzzzzt!

Avatar.

I went to the Cinema last week to see the Blockbuster Avatar. I went with a group of Friends and decided on seeing the Movie in 3D. Avatar is a science fiction epic film written and directed by James Cameron and starring Sam Worthington. The film is set in the year 2154 on Pandora, a moon in the Alpha Centauri star system. Humans are engaged in mining Pandora's reserves of a precious mineral, while the Na'vi—a race of indigenous humanoids—resist the colonists' expansion, which threatens the continued existence of the Na'vi and the Pandoran ecosystem. The film's title refers to the genetically engineered bodies used by the film's characters to interact with the Na'vi. The movie is over and a half hours long but boy did it just fly by. Really, even if you are not into science fiction go and see this movie in 3D. The visuals really will blow your socks off! The planet of Pandora is a lush forest jungle environment and with the aid of the 3D glasses it really gives you the impression of being there~ part of the film. I’ve watch things in 3D long ago and the colours and clarity were always very poor. I just cannot get over how jaw droppingly beautiful the visuals are in this movie. GO SEE IT…at the Cinema….in 3D!!
