Down to London 2009~Click Pic to enlarge!

Well, my day trip to London was just brilliant...it really was. I sooo enjoyed it and we just managed to have a laugh none stop. My day started Early with my Alarm going off at just before 6.30am. The train we were catching was leaving my home town at 7.35am. Up and at them, dressed and grabbed a quick mug of tea. I didn't bother with any breakfast coz I knew we were going to grab some when we got down to London. I gave Jay a ring and met up with him down the bottom of the hill and we walked up to the train station It's only about a 25 minutes walk down to the station. Stopped up at the cash machine on the way down and got there with 10 minutes to spare. Gaz and Sunny turned up shortly followed my Ryds and Skelly. The train was running near on ten minutes late but that was no probs. We'd booked our tickets weeks and weeks ago thus giving us reserved seats already. The station was very busy and looked like all the seats where taken on the train when we sat down. Didn't take us long to get down to London. There was only one stop at Leicester and it was right thru' then. Must of taken about hour and a half...if that. The station that we pull into down at London is called St Pancras. It's now the main hub for taking a train off to mainland Europe (Mainly Paris) thru' the Euro Tunnel (Or Chunnel has it's known ~ English Channel-Tunnel...get it?). They have spent millions on doing up the station and it looks more like a Airport terminal now than a train station. It's fantastic. When we got to St Pancras we all said "we gotta go to Paris on the train soon" ..lol! After getting some day tickets for the underground we walked down to KingsCross station and caught the "tube" to Covent Garden. There is an Italian place that we always go to for a Breakfast. Bring it on...alll fried fatboy bust ya heart English Breakfast. lol. Bacon, eggs, sausage ~the works. We sat there and decided what to do for the day. We all agreed to head up Leicester Square from Covent garden then on to Piccadilly Circus and up Regent Street. We wanted to get a few bits for Christmas and Regent Street (and Oxford Street) is the place to go to shop. I wanted to go to Hamleys which is a famous toy store. I wanted to get something for my Niece. The rest of lads wanted to have a look in there too...lol ..big kids. Awe you could spend hours and hours in there. 5 floors of every type of toy you could think of. Just awesome. We spent a bit of time on the gadgets floor. They let you "test" (ok..ok..ok..so it's play) with some of the stuff. We all had a go on these like mini helicopter things. Ooops....what mistake that was ~on their part! lol. Crash....er...we put the controls down and walked off whistling...aherrrm! Spent about an hour in there all told. The store was rammed to the rafters. I got Ellie a little London bear dressed up has a Soldier Guard (bear skin headwear ~wasn't real bearskin...ok?-lol). From there we crossed over the road and went into the National Geographic store and had a nose about. Next up was down to Regent Street and cut thru' the Mall and onto Horse Guards Parade and the barracks there. Crossed over near Downing street and by Whitehall and the Ministry of Defence and down to the Thames. Time for a pit stop. There is a boat on the Thames that we always go that is a floating Tapas Restaurant. We had a beer there and chunky chips. Bliss. Watched the river traffic go up and down and looked out on to the London Eye (its a massive Ferris wheel). The sun was out and we just kicked back and chilled. We decided that next time we come down we'll get a boat up river and head for Tower Bridge and on to Greenwich. See the Observatory and Median time line, the maritime museum and the Cutty Sark (ole Clipper sailing ship that unfortunately caught fire a few years back but they have or are resorting it). After Chunky chips we headed up to Westminster Bridge, Big Ben and the houses of parliament. We were going to then catch the tube down to South Kensington to the Natural History Museum. Gah...the line we needed to get was closed due to maintenance work. So, Westminster station was closed. It meant hiking down to Victoria station to get the line to cross over on to another line to get to South Kensington. We walked up by Westminster Abby and down to the station. Awe. Made it to the Natural History Museum and they had an ice rink out the front of it. lol. Looked fantastic. We stood watching people whizz by, some falling over and some do a lap by clinging onto the side of the rink. lol. Made our way into the Museum and it was just like how I remembered it from being a kid. They still have the massive skeleton of the Diplodocus in the main hallway. The Building is just soo very beautiful too. All in stone and the more you look at the arch ways and doorways the more you see. Animal and plants carved into the stones and blocks. We were in there for like 2 and a half hours. Just awesome. Did the Dinosaur area and the highlight is a big life size T-rex ~all animatronics and roars. Brilliant. We were "thrown" out of there around 5.45pm and decided to head back to Covent Garden and have a beer. Any bits the lads needed to get they could do so from there. I just wanted a seat...and a pint. lol. The train back was due at 8.20. Leaving Covent garden around 7ish the group of us headed back to the St Pancras. There was a champagne bar on the platform there and so with around 45mins to kill we went for it. lol. Was great...listening to all the different languages and accents walking by has we sat on these high stools quaffing Champers. lol. See...told ya i was posh! lol! We got on the train at 8.15 and was away on time. Straight back up to Leicestershire. Had one laugh on the way back...Skel needed to toilet and could not work out the door to get in there. So, I went back with him to help him out. The Nipple head had been trying to push the button to open the outer doors of the train....idiot. Lol. I showed him the right door before he tiddled his pants! Mmmm- missed out on a trick there now didn’t I? loll I think he should lay off the Champers from now on. Awesome day though and I didn’t take noooo rockin' that night to get sleep.
